Branford Marsalis plays

The JazzSLC series continues on Monday, October 17 with a concert by renowned jazz saxophonist Branford Marsalis. Over a career spanning four decades, Marsalis won three Grammys and expanded jazz’s imprint on pop culture by performing with Sting on his album “Dream of the Blue Turtles”, being the bandleader on ” The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” for three years. , and composed music for a 2010 Broadway production of August Wilson’s “Fences.” The Marsalis concert is at the Capitol Theater, 50 W. 200 South, Salt Lake City, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at ArtTix.org.

Utah Jazz begins its season

The season is expected to be tough for the Utah Jazz, after a series of off-season trades that sent the team’s biggest stars to other NBA franchises in exchange for draft picks that won’t be not cashed for some time. What kind of team will the Jazz be this season? The answers will begin to form at the start of the regular season on Wednesday, October 19, with the Denver Nuggets visiting Vivint Smart Home Arena, 301 W. South Temple, Salt Lake City. Last Chance at the Farmer’s Market

Where did the time go? The Downtown Salt Lake City Farmers’ Market will hold its last session for 2022 on Saturday, October 22 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Pioneer Park, 350 W. 300 South. This will be the last chance to buy fresh produce directly from area farmers, as well as other food vendors, arts and crafts market performers, and food trucks. The Winter Market will resume on November 12 at The Gateway and will run on Saturdays until April 22.
