KEARNS, Utah — Unified Police are searching for a stolen trailer filled with thousands of dollars worth of event supplies belonging to the Kearns Community Council.
“(The suspects) probably thought it was going to contain a large amount of valuables,” said UPD Kearns Precinct leader Levi Hughes.
“What they found – I’m sure – when they opened it was that the items were valuable to a community, but not for the profit they were trying to get,” added Hughes.

The trailer was full of approximately $30,000 worth of tables, chairs, barbecues, audio equipment; everything the Kearns Community Council uses to organize its outdoor events.
Police are now looking for two men, who visited a warehouse between Sunday and Wednesday. According to police, they cut a tab lock and drove away with the trailer.

“It looked like they had a plan,” Hughes said. “The whole Kearns community is a victim, it’s Kearns taxpayers money paying for these things.”
The Kearns Community Council co-chairman said it took the group 10 years to accumulate everything in the trailer.
Among the items now missing are “100 chairs, four 8-foot tables, two 8-burner barbecues, two barbecue tanks, audio equipment, flags, awnings,” Roger Snow said.
Equipment is required for the June event
The Council is having an outdoor event in June for which they would need to use all this equipment.
“Quite honestly, I don’t know what we’re going to do,” Snow said.
If you have seen the trailer or the two men accused of driving an older model white Ford truck, you are asked to call 801-840-4000. And ask for Kearns police station.
“It appears to be a…long bed, extended cab truck – it’s towing a stolen white trailer,” Hughes said.
