SALT LAKE CITY (April 21, 2022) — Click here to watch Governor Cox’s monthly press conference hosted by PBS Utah.

ASL interpretation is provided.

Highlights include:

  • We are declaring a state of drought emergency starting today. This emergency ordinance will allow the state to use all the state resources we need to deal with the drought. The Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Agriculture and Food will coordinate aid, assistance and relief.
  • With record unemployment and strong job growth, there’s no denying that Utah’s economy is booming. In fact, this week, the Rich States vs. Poor States Study ranked Utah as the number one economic prospect in the nation… for the 15th straight year. But with inflation this high, Utahans are really feeling the pinch, especially at the gas pump. As of yesterday, gas in Utah cost $4.48 a gallon compared to the national average of $4.14. We asked our team to explore any ideas that could provide relief to Utahns.
