Chances are, you probably had a hot dog straight off the barbecue on the weekend of July 4th. If you have, you may have noticed a discrepancy between the number of hot dogs in a package and the number of buns in a package.
Heinz Ketchup believes it’s time to end this gap and has started a petition to get the number of hot dogs and buns in matching packaging.
“Hot dog sausages come in packs of 10. Hot dog buns come in packs of 8. WHY? That’s the question Heinz Ketchup is asking as they petition for equal numbers of hot dogs and buns.
The condiment company says it’s time the mismatch between the beef sausages and the bread they’re served on was presented in packages with the same number.
“As a condiment that has united foods for over 150 years, we’ve decided enough is enough. That’s why we started the Heinz Hot Dog Pact, ”Heinz wrote on his Change.org petition.
“We call on the Big Bun and Big Wiener companies to find the answer to this hot dog packaging mismatch once and for all. We need your signatures more than ever.
“Together, let’s change the history of hot dogs.

The petition aims to collect 15,000 signatures. So far, they have received over 13,000 signatures supporting the change.
“It’s time to end the scourge of hot dog orphans!” Gene Black wrote on the page.
“It’s not American to have this imbalance between sausages and buns! Jordan Simon added.
Heinz admitted they don’t make hot dogs or buns, but they still think they have an interest (not a steak) in the game.
“Heinz doesn’t make hot dogs. But we are improving them. So let’s improve the hot dogs… 10 buns. 10 sausages. We can do it.”
